Daily Maze Challenge: Build a Maze-Solving Habit

How a daily maze challenge works, why a short daily puzzle habit is worth building, and where to play.

What is a daily maze challenge?

A daily maze challenge is a simple format: one new maze puzzle becomes available each day, and it resets the next morning. You solve today's maze, come back tomorrow for a different one. That's it.

The appeal is the constraint. Because there is only one maze per day — the same maze for everyone — solving it carries a small shared quality. You are not picking from a library or generating something custom. You are solving today's puzzle.

Daily puzzle formats work across a wide range of games and activities. The structure creates a natural anchor for a short daily habit: open, solve, done.

How the Maze of the Day works

MazePuzzles.io has a free daily maze at mazepuzzles.io/maze-of-the-day. A new maze is generated each day — no two days share the same layout. The puzzle is the same for every player on that date.

  1. 1 Open today's maze: Visit the Maze of the Day page. The current puzzle is ready immediately, no setup required.
  2. 2 Solve at your own pace: Navigate using keyboard arrows, WASD, or swipe gestures. There is no time limit.
  3. 3 Share your result: After solving, you can share your completion time with the post-solve result.

The maze resets at midnight. If you start a puzzle and do not finish it, your progress is saved automatically on the same device and browser, so you can return and complete it.

Why play a daily maze?

A daily maze is one of the lower-friction puzzle habits available. Most sessions take a few minutes, the rules are simple, and there is no penalty for taking longer or needing to think through a dead end.

Short sessions

Most daily mazes take a few minutes. It fits into a commute, a coffee break, or the start of a morning routine.

Low setup

No account needed. Open the page, play the maze. There are no tutorials or onboarding steps.

Same challenge for everyone

Because the maze is the same for all players on a given day, you can compare notes or share your result.

A clear stopping point

Finishing the maze is a natural ending. There is no pressure to continue to the next level or unlock anything.

Maze-solving requires spatial reasoning and systematic thinking — noticing dead ends, backtracking deliberately, and keeping track of tried paths. A short daily session is a reasonable way to practice those skills in a low-stakes setting.

How progress works

When you play the Maze of the Day, your position and elapsed time are saved in your browser automatically. If you close the tab and return on the same device and browser, you will pick up where you left off.

What gets saved

Your current position in the maze, your elapsed time, and your trail are saved locally. No account is needed. Progress is stored in your browser and is only available on the same device and browser where you played.

Clearing your browser's local storage or using a different device will start a fresh session. Once you complete the daily maze, a completion marker is saved so the page shows your result when you return.

Sharing your result

After solving the daily maze, a post-solve result shows your completion time and step count. You can share this result using the Share Result button, which opens your device's share sheet or copies the text to your clipboard.

Because the maze is the same for everyone on a given day, your result is directly comparable. Sharing after completion — with your actual time — is more interesting than sharing a link before you have played.

What to play after the daily maze

Once you have finished today's puzzle, a few options are available on MazePuzzles.io.
